How to Make a Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake
This marshmallow flavored milk treat is tasty and filling as a snack.
It's a great winter milkshake idea for those who don't want to
relinquish the joy of having milkshakes during the colder season.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8-10 white marshmallows
Part 1
Toasting the Marshmallows
-
1Spear the marshmallows onto a skewer. Use more than one skewer or do in rounds if there isn't enough room to leave adequate hand hold at one end.
-
2Hold over a gas flame and toast. Expect a little burning, it's what happens when you toast food like this and adds to the flavor. For safety's sake, hold the skewer with an oven mitt to protect your hands from heat.
- If you can't toast this way, place the marshmallows on a baking sheet and broil (grill with heat topside down).
-
3Set aside to cool slightly. Place on a saucer or similar.
Part 2
Making the Milkshake
-
1Pour the milk and vanilla extract into the blender. Add the scoops of vanilla ice cream and all but 2 of the toasted marshmallows.
-
2Blend to mix. Blend until it looks reasonably smooth. This can take up to 5 minutes.
-
3Pour into a tall glass suitable for a milkshake. Top with the spare roasted marshmallows.
-
4Enjoy your liquidized creamy toasted marshmallows.
Tips
- If you like spice, sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg on the top of the milkshake.
- A milkshake is made thinner by using less ice cream and thicker by adding more ice cream.
- For a slightly different flavor, add a tablespoon of sour cream.
Warnings
- Take caution when toasting the marshmallows; they can burn easily.
- This is a fairly unhealthy way to consume milk. Save it for a treat now and then.
- Burnt food may contain carcinogens; keep to a minimum.
Things You'll Need
